Every course I build starts with a real problem and ends with a measurable solution

About Me
I'm an instructional designer with experience in healthcare compliance, child welfare systems, and enterprise software rollouts. My work connects complex processes and the people who need to actually use them, whether that's a foster parent navigating a new certification, or a staff member figuring out Workday on day one. I lean on evidence-based design, but I'm also practical: the best training is the one that fits the context, respects the learner's time, and solves the right problem. That's why I spend as much time in the analysis phase as I do in development.
A few things I focus on:
Needs Analysis
Identifying performance gaps and designing targeted solutions
Visual Design
Creating clear, appealing materials that communicate effectively
Relevance
Enhancing engagement, retention, and real-world application
Evaluation
Measuring effectiveness using Kirkpatrick's model and other appropriate models

HIPAA Compliance
ADDIE Adult Learning Theory Scenario-Based Learning Storyline
Developed privacy protection training for healthcare staff to support consistent, compliant handling of Protected Health Information on the job
- Started with a needs analysis and worked with SMEs to pinpoint where staff were actually getting tripped up (not just what they were supposed to know)
- Designed the course around real situations staff run into, so the content felt immediately relevant to their day-to-day work
- Built scenario-based interactions that let learners practice making decisions around PHI instead of just reading policies
- Kept visuals simple and consistent to avoid distraction and keep the focus on what matters
Workday Purchase Requisitions Guide
ADDIE Cognitive Load Theory Task Analysis Microsoft Word
Created a set of 10 job aids (~80 pages total) to support all employees in completing everyday financial tasks following a company-wide Workday launch
- Identified performance gaps during the system launch and designed guides to support employees at the point of need
- Broke processes down step-by-step so people could follow along while doing the work, not just study it ahead of time
- Worked closely with SMEs to make sure the guides reflected how the process actually happens, not just how it's “supposed” to work
- Kept each guide focused and easy to scan so employees could find what they needed quickly
- Gave support staff a reliable reference, which helped cut down on repeat questions and tickets
- Received a company-wide award for my work on this project
Training Plan Outline Proposal & Video
Needs Analysis Blended Learning Backward Design Storyline Microsoft Word
Designed a training plan for a complex internal database used across seven departments, where task requirements and workflows varied significantly by team
- Performed a cross-departmental needs analysis by interviewing SMEs from each team to determine the highest-priority tasks for new employees
- Built the plan around those real tasks, so training stayed focused on performance instead of coverage
- Recommended a blended approach: video for the big picture, peer guides for the more nuanced, team-specific work
- Matched each piece of the training to its purpose instead of trying to force everything into one format
- Worked through multiple rounds of feedback to make sure the plan made sense across teams and held up in practice
Vyond: Employee Scheduling video
Just-in-Time Learning Microlearning Rapid Development Vyond
Produced a short just-in-time training video to support employees learning a new scheduling system at the time of its launch
- Designed as a quick, just-in-time resource employees could use right when the new system launched
- Kept it short and focused so people could get what they needed without sitting through a full course
- Turned it around quickly while still making sure the steps were clear and accurate
- Partnered with SMEs to double-check that what we showed matched what employees would actually see on the job
Vyond: Accreditation Kickoff Video
Change Management Support Adult Learning Theory Stakeholder Alignment Vyond
Produced a kickoff video to prepare staff for an upcoming accreditation process and set clear expectations before it began
- Designed to reduce uncertainty and build readiness by giving staff a transparent look at what the process would involve
- Framed the content around why it matters and how it impacts their day-to-day work
- Worked through multiple rounds with stakeholders to make sure the message was clear, accurate, and landed the right tone
Training Format Decision Tree
Decision Modeling Needs Analysis Stakeholder Alignment Microsoft Powerpoint
Built a decision tree to bring structure and transparency to training format recommendations during stakeholder scoping meetings
- Identified a stakeholder alignment problem and created a tool to make the “why” behind format choices visible and consistent
- Used it in meetings to shift conversations away from preferences and toward learning goals
- Refined it with stakeholder input so it was practical, not just theoretically sound
- Ended up becoming a go-to tool that reduced pushback and made scoping smoother
Storyline & JavaScript
Learning Experience Design (LXD) Systems Design Automation Web Design Storyline
Designed and built a custom certificate generation system within Storyline to replace a costly third-party tool and give the organization full control over the process
- Pushed beyond Storyline's default capabilities to create a smoother, more flexible learner experience
- Built a secure certificate process that routes through an external site to prevent tampering
- Thought through the full workflow: what the learner sees and what staff need on the back end
- Automated tracking and certificate management to handle daily volume without extra manual work
- Replaced a third-party tool, saving the organization thousands each month
- Documented everything and turned it into a reusable template so the rest of the team could use it
